This project means so much to me for many reasons! First off, I discovered Cam Cole two years ago and I knew he was going to be something special. I fell in love with his music and I wanted to do something with his songs. I made a contact with his amazing agent Markus and shortly after, got the green light to write and produce the music video for “I See”.
For those who don’t know Cam, he’s a one man band who has been featured on Apple TV’s "Ted Lasso" with Jason Sudeikis, he’s become a viral sensation with his busking around the streets of London, and he's released an amazing début album titled “I See” in 2019. His song “I See” has been featured in the Red Bull film “The Old World” and he’s been recognized by many famous musicians such as Tommy Lee from Motley Crue.
But another reason this project meant a lot to me is because of the process. I wrote, produced, directed, edited and casted for this entire music video. I wanted to go with a style that I thought best represented the song. I listened to it a thousand times and I decided that it needed to be a Western, even though I didn’t have the resources to make one. A lot of people told me that it was impossible to try to film a western with no money, low-end equipment, no props, a few actors, in Ohio, during the middle of winter! But I was determined to make it happen so I found a way!
I needed a lot of luck to pull this off and that’s where Dogwood Pass came in. They supplied me with props, a beautiful set, horses, extras, and just pure generosity!
The actors in this video were incredible and deserve so much credit! Steven Brinson (Bounty Hunter), Steve Graf (Sherriff), Matthew Grant Sr. (Outlaw), Mike & Sharlene Montgomery (Owners of Dogwood Pass/Outlaws, Tessa Lykins, Flo Graf, Brandi Brinson, Amanda Wakeman and Gerrad Young.
Finally I want to give a shoutout to my friend Shawn Davis for being there with me to put this project together. He played the role of an outlaw (Jessie Grimley) and absolutley nailed the role! He helped me on set, helped me concept, and truly helped make this dream, a reality!
